Katie grew up in the home of lacrosse, Baltimore, MD, and has been playing the game since she was 5. She played through high school at Bryn Mawr School for Girls and for M&D Lacrosse Club, then four years of Division III at Whittier College. Her senior year she earned her team’s MVP award and was recognized as all conference.
Her focus in college was as a low defender and a defensive midfielder but she also played center and attack when the team needed. The thing Katie is most proud of in her lacrosse career is making a full recovery after a season-ending knee injury her junior year at Whittier.
Since graduating, she has stayed intermittently involved in the lacrosse community from volunteering with VVLC to playing for the ‘Texerados’ in the Vail shootout. Katie is very excited to be involved as a full time coach for VVLC and plans to contribute to the growth of women’s lacrosse in the Vail Valley.
Siena was born and raised in Vail, Colorado and grew up in the Vail Valley when there was little opportunity for girls to learn the game of lacrosse. Inspired by her older brother, she started playing in third grade and could not get enough. She was the starting goalie for Battle Mountain High School all four years while she traveled to Denver three times a week to play for Colorado Lightning, a competitive lacrosse club. After being selected to play for Team Colorado at the National Brine Tournament in VA, she was recruited by The University of Mount Olive, a NCAA Division II university in North Carolina. While at UMO she was staring goalie and received a variety of academic and athletic awards including: IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll 2018, Conference Carolina Academic All-Conference Award 2018, 2019, UMO Student Athlete of the Month February 2019, Conference Carolinas Player of the Week 2019, National Student-Athlete Day Women’s Lacrosse Honoree April 2019.
Since graduating in May 2019, she has remained eager to stay involved with lacrosse and is thrilled to have been welcomed into the VVLC Family. She is beyond excited to see how far the girl’s lacrosse community has grown in the Vail Valley since she was young and to be a part of helping each girl find their passion for lacrosse.
Chantal grew up in Maryland and has been playing lacrosse most of her life. She played college lacrosse at Wagner College. After she graduated, Chantal has remained involved in the sport at any opportunity, from coaching at various camps, playing, and being a fan. Chantal started with VVLC during the winter in 2019, and continued to coach through the spring. She quickly showed her experience working with youth athletes and her ability to keep them engaged and growth-oriented throughout each season.
Niki was born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. She was a high level swimmer and gymnast growing up and has always had a passion for fitness. She first found the love for lacrosse when she joined the youth program as a 7th grader and found instant gratitude for the team and the sport which opened so many friendships and memories still to this day.
Once in high school, Niki tried out for the varsity team as a freshman and made it that first season. As the only freshman she quickly learned speed, technique, and team bonding from watching her older teammates. When spring season ended she spent her winter and fall seasons playing indoor recreational lacrosse and field hockey outside of Boston.
As a senior, Niki was chosen as captain of the varsity team and led them to a divisional win and on to playoffs. Once that journey ended Niki was nominated and awarded a spot on the Massachusetts’s MIAA All Star Team.
Niki had high hopes of playing lacrosse in her college career but her recruiting lead her a scholarship to play Field Hockey. She eventually went to North Carolina where she attended Appalachian State University where she focused on a completely different path in the beauty industry, which she continues to do today.
The spirit of the sport will always be part of her life and she continues to bring the same magic to all kids wanting to play Lacrosse!
